Sewing for Ottawa is a 100% volunteer driven initiative. We need sewists, fabric cutters, drivers willing to pick-up and drop-off supplies, and of course donations are welcome too.

We are asking that all sewists and volunteers join our Facebook group Sewing for Ottawa in order to coordinate and connect everyone. When you join and are ready to start sewing, simply post to the group saying what you are looking to do and you will be contacted! Please only join if you are looking to sew or contribute to this initiative. If you are not on Facebook but would like to volunteer send us an email.

If you are looking for inspiration and resources to make items for your community or personal use you are welcome to use our patterns.

Step 1

Join the Facebook group Sewing for Ottawa.

Step 2

You will be matched with a project based on your skills and availability to help.

Step 3

If you choose to make masks you will be provided with pre-cut kits including everything you need to make 20 masks. Once they are made you will drop off the masks so they can be distributed to those in need.

If you are making scrub caps or headbands you can use your own materials or use materials donated to Sewing for Ottawa by the community. Details in the Sewing for Ottawa Facebook group.

Step 4

Please read the FAQs and the information available on this website before joining the Sewing for Ottawa Facebook group. The less time we spend answering questions the more time we have for sewing!
